A New Year - A New Start
Your Cochrane Realtor - And Her Thoughts
The start of a new year always brings a mix of excitement and reflection. It’s a natural pause point — a chance to look back at what worked, what didn’t, and what we want to carry forward. For a lot of us, it’s not about setting huge, flashy resolutions anymore. It’s about finding motivation that actually sticks and setting intentions that feel realistic and meaningful.
Champion Mindset
Recently, I had the opportunity to meet Olympic gold medalist Lori-Ann Muenzer, and it was incredibly inspiring. Not just because she’s an Olympian (and that I got to hold a real gold medal!), but because of the mindset that got her there. One of the things she shared really stood out to me: “Champions win twice — first in their mind, then in real life.” Before the training, the competition, and the pressure, there’s belief and a goal. There’s a clear picture of what success looks like. It was a great reminder that progress in any area of life starts with how we see ourselves and what we believe is possible.
Real Estate Mindset
Another message that resonated deeply, especially in the world of Real Estate, was the idea that “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” In a world that often celebrates hustle and doing everything yourself, it’s easy to forget how powerful community can be. Whether it’s family, friends, clients, colleagues, or mentors, the people around us play a huge role in how far we go. Support, accountability, and shared wins make the journey not only more successful, but a lot more enjoyable.
To get a little vulnerable with you all, my biggest take away from this inspiring talk was the idea of borrowing belief. As adults, we tend to wait for proof before taking action. We want certainty before we start. We want perfection without failure first. Kids don’t think that way — they just jump in. They don’t wait until they know they’ll succeed; they try, learn, and keep going. Sometimes, especially when we’re stepping into something new or uncomfortable, we need to borrow belief from someone else — someone who sees our potential before we fully see it ourselves.
That idea ties in perfectly with how many of us approach the new year. We think we need to have everything lined up before we begin — the right plan, the right timing, the right resources. But the truth is, growth doesn’t work that way. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to start where you are, with what you have. Small, consistent steps add up faster than waiting for the “perfect” moment.
Motivation isn’t about a single big push on January 1st. It’s about building momentum over time. It’s showing up even when it feels uncomfortable. It’s trusting that the work you put in today is shaping something bigger down the road, even if you can’t see the full picture yet.
As we kick off this new year, my hope is to stay focused on progress over perfection, connection over competition, and belief over doubt. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, picture the goals you want to reach, and give yourself permission to start — even if it’s messy.
Here’s to a year of growth, learning, and moving forward together!
